The ongoing nuclear crisis in Fukushima, Japan, has showed us that as long as we have active nuclear power plants, accidents will happen. One month after the tsunami hit the plant, the fate is still unknown. 3 outer containment structures were blown to smitherens, the last line of defense gone. One reactor more than likely in a meltdown.

We have seen that the nuclear fallout has spread around the upper northern hemisphere almost completely. Countries borders mean nothing. 4000 miles of ocean can be covered in 3 days.

I propose the southern hemisphere becomes a nuclear free area.

As my life moves on through time I can’t help but see a civilization out of control and heading towards a critical mass meltdown. I’m all for the human spirit and don’t see myself as a negative person, but there isn’t much good news of any kind that could outweigh the bad. But maybe that is our natural progression. We may have less control over human destiny than our egos would like to think. Maybe our nature is to bloom more like a flower, wilt and die to make room for the next evolution. Or maybe we are like a bacteria or mold, eating all the resources in our path mindlessly until we starve ourselves to death. Human progression does not seek ultimate happiness and stress free life for all it’s individuals, it seeks some strange ultimate science experiment that promises a mystical knowledge of all, while consuming everything in sight. Maybe there is some hope that the 10,000 or so Utopian dreamers could actually prove that we are not merely cancer on a planet, a battle against the Goliathian forces of Greed, Power and Lust. Life as hunter gatherer might have been shorter, but it may have been happier. Or not.
